For more than 12 hours, Microsoft Outlook and Hotmail users have been encountering significantly more spam in their inboxes. Microsoft says it is working on both a short-term and a long-term fix. In the immediate future, it will roll out a way to keep spam from hitting your inbox. Beyond that, Microsoft wants to prevent spam from reaching its e-mail infrastructure.
Many people have reported receiving excessive spam mail due to the filters in Outlook and Hotmail sign in being broken.
Microsoft hasn't explained the source of the problem. It's known the issue first appeared around 3 p.m. Eastern on May 31.
